Alko, Miriam and their two children are moving from the Netherlands to the UK to work with The Message to share the love of Christ with the hardest-to-reach young people in Scottish schools and local communities.
‘In 2016 I visited Scotland a number of times for performances, meetings and to give a sermon at a youth group. Each time I returned home I was more and more enthusiastic about the church in Scotland’, says Alko. ‘At the end of 2016 I received an invitation to do a sermon at Vine Church in Dunferline in the following February. During this time my mum passed away, but we continued with our plans and travelled to Scotland the day after the funeral. From day one we felt at home as a family and independently we had the feeling that God’s hand was on this. After a few weeks of praying, talking, fasting and reading the bible we tried to examine what God’s will was for us. Then all the doors opened. One of the Bible texts that kept coming back to us was Hosea 10:12: Plow new ground for yourselves, plant righteousness, and reap the blessings that your devotion to me will produce. It is time for you to turn to me, your Lord, and I will come and pour out blessings upon you.’
Alko and Miriam will be working in schools running workshops about music, self-esteem and relationships. They will be supporting the work of Eden. And teaching young people how to use their musical giftings as a tool for evangelism.
Please pray for Alko, Miriam and the rest of their family as they follow where God has called them and make this move from the Netherlands to Scotland. Find out more at www.movetoscotland.nl
