One definition of the word Higher is having a greater or more considerable extent to reach upwardly. I am excited about us all working together to have a more considerable chance of reaching thousands of young people with the good news of Jesus and helping them to connect ‘upwardly’.
I am also very aware that we are taking enemy ground as we advance God’s Kingdom among the youth in this region. We need to ‘buckle up our armour’ as we are encouraged to do in Ephesians 6. Verse 18 of the same passage warns us to ‘be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people’. I love verse 19 in which Paul asks for prayer that he may ‘fearlessly make known the mystery of the gospel’. Let’s join in prayer for protection for all involved in this incredible mission and the essential discipleship which will be ongoing afterwards. Let’s also all commit again to fearlessly proclaim the gospel and pray for those who will be doing so in schools and at the gigs.
In the last paragraph of the ‘Last Battle’ (Chronicles of Narnia) C.S. Lewis writes ‘…now at last they were beginning Chapter One of the Great Story which no one on earth has read: which goes on forever: in which every chapter is better than the one before.’ It’s a huge encouragement to know that many, many young people and their families will be part of the great story as Jesus’ name is lifted higher. Pray that their hearts will be prepared to join us on this eternal adventure.
