About The Message

'Successive governments have tried and failed to achieve what The Message is doing locally...' Manchester Evening News, July 20, 2008

The Message Trust is an award-winning Christian charity working to improve the lives of young people in Manchester, UK.

Working in schools, local communities and prisons, we are in contact with around 100,000 young people across Greater Manchester each year. Over 15 years we have developed a knack for being able to get through to the hardest-to-reach young people, with the aim of bringing hope, providing opportunities and releasing potential.

Our work results in community transformation.

In brief, The Message...

  • Runs nine Eden youth projects where over 100 volunteers live and work in tough urban contexts
  • Delivers around 2,000 hours of youth work every month through over 300 separate activities
  • Provides a safe 'off the street' environment for 500 young people every week using two high-tech mobile youth centres
  • Sends three bands to perform and take lessons across the region’s high schools, promoting self-respect, good citizenship and the Christian message of hope
  • Helps break the cycle of youth crime through innovative work in the region's Young Offenders Institutions
  • Operates a £1m arts and music training complex in South Manchester

We depend on the generosity of people who share our vision to change the lives of young people in Manchester. Our work is funded entirely by gifts from the general public, businesses, churches and trusts and foundations.
