Eden's new National Director

Published on October 6, 2013

Taking over this month, Sam Ward (pictured, left) will lead Eden Network into its next chapter of growth.

Sam joined Eden as a volunteer in 2000 when he was working in the field of accounting. He has led the Eden Openshaw team, served as regional director for Eden Yorkshire and since 2007, together with his wife Nicci, led the Openshaw Community Church (a church-plant partnership with the Salvation Army).

Commenting on the appointment, Matt (current National Director), said: “Andy Hawthorne and I felt that the most important point on the job description was that the role must be occupied by an individual who embodies the Eden DNA and exemplifies the vision and values of the movement. That’s why we were in complete agreement that Sam was the perfect fit for the role. Sam has grown with the network, starting out as a tentmaking volunteer.”

Matt Wilson took on responsibility for Eden in 2003 and has grown it from half a dozen teams based in disadvantaged communities around Greater Manchester to one of the largest and most dynamic urban mission networks in Britain. He leaves next month to head up children’s charity Safe Families for Children.
