These are just a few of the highlights from a recent trip to the Yorkshire countryside for Eden Buttershaw girls.
Lets just clarify…the girls were singing Whitney Houston at the top of their voices and marvelling at the fact there were brown cows!
This was a trip Louise and Maz had been planning for a long time, having worked with local young girls over the past three years. It was a good chance to go deeper into the issues around self worth, body image and purity.
They’d done a day trip and had some pamper evenings recently but it was two years since they’d done a weekend trip away. “We took seven girls,” Louise, who led the weekend, said, “and had an amazing time talking about looking after your body, mind and spirit. One young girl became a christian and all of them prayed and prophesied over each other.”
“It was so cool to take these girls to beautiful Malham in North Yorkshire, they just came alive walking in the stunning countryside. It was loads of fun and God moved in an amazing way. We are looking forward to developing our work with them now we are back in Buttershaw.”
Eden Buttershaw has recently been awarded a grant from the West Yorkshire police, which will pay for a mobile recording studio. This will be really key in developing the work with the young people and music.
“It will provide lots more opportunities for budding young musicians to perform, record and hopefully in the future work towards some accreditation in music,” said Maz Humphries, team leader.
“The grant is something Gav and the team have been praying and believing God for and we are so thankful for his provision!”
