Nick Shahlavi (performing as Nu Breed), who is part of our missions team Vital Signs, has been awarded first place in the Anno Domini Song Contest 2016 for his song ‘My Story’.
The contest has been running every year since 2006, but Nick is the first ever winner from outside the US. His is also the first Christian rap song to be awarded the top spot. Through the song Nick shares his story of salvation, with lyrics exploring Jesus’ death on the cross, forgiveness and the resurrection.
The team of 20 judges were impressed by his ‘mic presence, delivery, passion and raw emotion’, and they praised him for holding nothing back in his performance.
Anno Domini is an international company comprising a successful hip-hop label, with producers who have worked with 50 Cent, Snoop Dogg and Rick Ross.
