In our OneThing series, members of the Advance network share their top tip for sharing the gospel. Daniel Eduardo shares.
…is that you should be bold and just go for it!
Many times fear will creep in, questions will run around our heads and thoughts like ‘what if no-one responds, what if I mess up the delivery?’ can become overwhelming. I would get so nervous when I first started preaching the gospel, and at times my fears could be overwhelming and impact the preaching. But I realised that if we dwell on those thoughts, then we are not focusing on the task ahead – the preaching of the gospel in the power of the Spirit.
Paul tells Timothy, ‘For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline’ (2 Timothy 1:7).
When we preach the gospel, we need to do it with boldness, with no fear or timidity. The gospel has lost none of its power today and I am confident that the more we preach, the more we will see its transforming power at work, which in turn helps us become more and more confident in the task.
Spend time with Jesus, seek his face and then preach. He will do the rest.
Be bold, be courageous and just go for it!
