Santa comes to Tremorfa

Published on January 3, 2018

In mid December, the community of Tremorfa in Cardiff enjoyed a wonderful surprise as Santa and his helpers came to town as part of the Santa Sleigh Run.

Hundreds of excited children and adults lined the streets of Tremorfa as the sleigh, kitted with festive lights and music, travelled through the community bringing joy and smiles to people’s faces. Along the way the sleigh stopped so that children could have photos with Santa and the volunteers handed out candy canes and invites to a Carol Service.

The Santa Sleigh Run is organised by Rumney Chapel and Mike Thomas, the Eden Bus Manager for Wales. It has happened in other areas of Cardiff for many years but this Christmas it came to Tremorfa for the first time with the help of the Eden team and Belmont Family Church. The local people of Tremorfa were so thrilled that it came to their neighbourhood.

‘It was amazing to see the whole community flocking out of their houses and on to the streets. When we turned into a new street, we were greeted by crowds of people waiting with anticipation. The joy on people’s faces, both young and old, was incredible to see. Everybody was just so kind and warm towards the team and so grateful that festive cheer had been brought to them in this way. We had so many amazing conversations and such fun talking with people as we wished them a Happy Christmas. A massive thank you to Mike Thomas and his team for being willing to come to Tremorfa’Mike, Eden Tremorfa Team Leader.
