One Thing: Be Excited

Published on March 8, 2018

One thing to remember when preaching the gospel…. you have to be excited! It’s good news!

You are selling a product that the listener doesn’t have and you need to convince them that:

a) they want it

b) they need it

Just in case you’re wondering what that product is, it’s forgiveness and new life. Life with the creator of the universe now and life with God for all eternity in heaven after our bodies die. It doesn’t really get any better than that.

Now I like my food. Do you? But when I go into a restaurant I struggle to decide what to have unless it has a great photo and description and even better still if it’s been recommended by a trusted friend. If it then comes out and is presented well with some creative garnish, well we are on to a winner! So why can’t we present the gospel well and lavish it with enthusiasm from someone who’s tasted it and knows that it’s good.

Romans 5 v 2
‘…we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we boast (get excited) in the hope of the glory of God.’

If you have really grasped how amazing this gospel is for yourself then speak from your heart and your own personal experience and you shouldn’t go wrong.
