Finding a Person of Peace in Prison

One of our prisons outreach workers, Phil, runs evangelistic outreach through courses and church services at a prison in Wales. And God is moving among the young people.

Despite his current work, Phil has been longing to see more openness in the other wings of the prison. His prayer was answered when he was given the opportunity to go into a new wing. Here he encountered a prisoner that we will call Alan, a self-titled ‘boss man’. Alan is a Muslim man and one of the more influential characters on the wing. After asking what he was doing on the wing, Phil explained that he was looking to set up an Alpha course. Alan offered to help and said he’d get a list of fellow inmates to fill each space in the group.

Two weeks in and the Alpha course has been full for both sessions and Phil is seeing a great response! Alan has said that he has felt goose bumps in response to what he has heard and another inmate has said that he believes in God and wants to study the Bible daily.

Please continue to pray for Phil and his Alpha group in the main prison and that God will continue to reveal himself to the group.
