Christmas comes to Farley Hill

On Saturday 1 December the Eden Farley Hill team (Luton) hosted a Christmas party for their community to kick off the festive season. The team welcomed around 200 people into the church for free hot dogs, mince pies, Christmas crafts, a bouncy castle and even a chance to meet Santa. Everyone (including the adults) who met Santa also received a present and everybody got an invite to our Christmas services. Ash Chafe, team leader, shares what the party meant to their team and community:

It was so wonderful to be able to celebrate the beginning of the festive season with the whole community of Farley Hill. There were some really great conversations happening throughout the event and lots of people came to the Christingle service the next day – most of whom don’t usually attend church. We hope that they will also come to the Crib and Christmas Day services later in the month.

Being in the centre of our local community is a core value for us, so it was brilliant that the party has helped us to identify more of those who are most in need. We are currently preparing Christmas hampers to send to those families who will be struggling the most this Christmas time – with everything needed for a full Christmas dinner as well as chocolates, sweets and gifts.

Jesus loves it when his people bring joy and celebration into places that are often filled with uncertainty, stress and chaos. We want the team of Eden Farley Hill to be messengers of hope, to share that there is a future and it’s one to look forward to and not to fear. We are seeing God’s kingdom here in Farley Hill.
