Our team is growing, and as our Message Wales director Gary Smith thrives in his role as UK Hubs Director for The Message Trust, we have appointed a new leader for our hub here in Wales – meet Mat Walls
Tell us a bit about yourself…
I’m originally from mid-Wales but I’ve called Manchester home for the last 18 years. My wife Ruth is from Swansea and we have two boys aged 6 and 2. I love adventure, film and sharing the gospel.
What will you be doing at Message Wales?
My role will be Message Wales Hub Leader. This means I’ll be taking responsibility for all that we do currently and look to grow the work of The Message all across Wales.
What were you doing before you joined the team?
I’ve worked for The Message for nine years. During this time I ran the Message Academy gap year and for the last two years I’ve worked as an evangelist and helped to run Advance.
What are you most looking forward to?
Living by the sea! For the job, I can’t wait to continue the great work of The Message and make sure that we’re always seeking to share Jesus in all that we do. Then we’ll begin to explore, dream and see where God will take us for the future.
What have you missed the most about living in Wales?
Being able to get hold of good Welsh cakes and pasties. There’s always been something homely and comforting about being around the Welsh accent and the Welsh sense of humour. But probably the best thing will be being around other people who care about the rugby as much as I do.
Please pray for Mat as he settles into life at Message Wales and leads our team. Please pray for his wife and children as they settle into a new area and that they will find a good community around them.
