Message School of Evangelism – What is MSE?

While on MSE you’ll have many opportunities to proclaim and demonstrate the gospel

You’ll receive powerful teaching from experienced tutors at The Message Trust and our partners around the world, training and releasing you to live a worshipful life through local church mission, putting everything learned into practice as we take the gospel to the streets, schools, prisons and local communities across the UK and beyond. If you’re looking for a training program or Christian gap year and want to be equipped to proclaim your faith to others, then this is for you.

What Does The Year Look Like?

Term
01
Train

At the start of the school the focus is teaching & training

Equipping you with biblical knowledge and practical training so that you become more confident in the gospel, deepen your relationship with God and find new ways to put your faith into action, teaching is at our heart. Right from the start we don’t just talk about mission – we do it. You will spend time out on placement with our partner church.

Term
02
Grow

In term two, we want to give you a chance to grow and be stretched

You’ll get to head out on mission projects, with chances to serve and even lead. You’ll be put into smaller teams and start working on your own mission materials such as preparing school lessons and planning Gospel talks.

Term
03
Go

Now you’ve been trained, this term you’ll be sent

You’ll head out on mission across the UK. Whether it’s working in schools, on community projects, doing street outreach or something new, you’ll work together to deliver mission wherever you go. And that’s not all. You’ll also have the opportunity to go on an overseas mission trip! Previous trips have headed to South Africa, Germany, India and Kenya working with young people and communities.

Teaching and Workshops

Over the year you will receive more than 100 hours of teaching and practical workshops. As we train you up to be messengers of the Gospel it’s important that your roots go deep and that word of God is central to all that you do.

Modules

We have experienced tutors bringing quality teaching which is all designed to train and equip you to be fruitful in evangelism. To see you grow we need both the truth of the Word and the power of the Holy Spirit within our teaching and so all of our teachers will challenge you in your knowledge of the Bible and theology, whilst allowing the Holy Spirit to bring the subject alive and practically apply it to your life.

Meet The Team

Joe Barrett

Joe is our main course leader. He’s been with The Message for 10 years having first joined to do the the school back in 2012. He then went on to become the drummer for one of The Message bands, Brightline, which has given him loads of experience in sharing the good news of Jesus in schools, churches and in the mission field. He is funny, has a big pastoral heart and loves to see people encounter Jesus.

Sarah Hagon

Sarah is our pastoral overseer. She has years of experience working as a kids pastor for a local church and leading a team living incarnationally in a disadvantaged urban area. She is married to Andy and has two wonderful boys. She loves to laugh and to see people set free to be and do all that God has for them.
