Young people across the nation will be hearing the life-changing news of the gospel throughout 2020 as our mission teams take the Higher Tour to more locations than ever before.
As part of Advance 2020, we’re gearing up to reach hundreds of thousands of young people in action-packed schools days, high- energy gospel-proclaiming gigs and exciting follow-up sessions.
Prioritising discipleship has always been and always will be at the heart of Higher. We want to see young people make decisions for Jesus and continue to journey with their local church and youth worker.
‘The Higher Tour opened the door into one of our local high schools,’ says Nick Ferraby, a church youth worker in Jersey. Higher headed to the Channel Islands in September 2018 and the churches are still seeing the impact over a year later. ‘While mission team BrightLine were delivering a high- energy and engaging RE lesson, sharing Jesus through their music and teaching, I was able to start conversations with the teachers who were observing the lesson.
As the local youth leader, we were able to talk about how we could continue the relationship between the church and the school. The Head of RE and Deputy Head were so impressed by the lessons delivered by the Higher Tour that they wanted to know how we could keep bringing these kinds of messages to their students.
‘From then on, I have had the privilege of running a lunch club, teaching year 9 and 10 lessons and also coaching students in sport and running. All of these opportunities have allowed us to bridge the gap between the church and the students and we’re seeing several young people regularly coming along to our weekly youth club with more coming along to events that we run as a church.’
Please pray that through the Higher Tour we can see more churches getting opportunities to partner with their local schools and many young disciples making a lasting impact in their schools, families and communities.
