Bringing together live exciting Christian music, contemporary worship, games, competitions and a relevant gospel message – Lift events give young people the opportunity to hear about Jesus and respond to him. During this season, these events have not been able to take place but this didn’t stop our team in Wales from reaching young people across their region.
On 10 July Lift went online with performances from Brightline and Amongst Wolves, interviews with band members, competitions and a gospel talk with the opportunity for young people to respond.
Youth leaders from across South Wales have said how much their young people enjoyed and engaged with the event, with many hosting watch parties so that their youth group could watch together. Some even had WhatsApp groups, so the young people could chat together throughout the event.
‘We had five or more young people watching along with their families’ said Jenny Knot from Caernarfon. ‘They really enjoyed the music and being able to get involved in the comments section of the video’.
One youth leader, Bramwell Blyth, set up a Zoom watch party for the event. ‘The young people really enjoyed the competitions and having to come up with creative answers’, says Bramwell. ‘I’m also so excited that the young people really enjoyed the gospel talk by Daniel from Brightline.’
Six young people watched over a Zoom set up by Victory Church. Youth worker Ashley said ‘the youth enjoyed the various worship songs and loved the interactive element – especially when they got a shout out! And we’re really looking forward to the next event.’
While we can’t meet together, this Lift event was a great way to engage with youth groups and young people across South Wales and get the gospel message out there. We’re looking to put on similar events in the near future.
