Stories are flooding in of how lives have been changed as people have come along to Easter events run by our Community Groceries, Eden teams and partner churches!
As Karen and Andy shopped in the Community Grocery, they heard about the free Easter Kids’ Club the partner church were running so signed their 12 year old son Owen up. There Owen heard about Jesus’ love for him and gave his life to Christ. That Sunday he begged Andy, his dad, to take him to church. Not wanting to let Owen down, his dad went along, heard the gospel and was so impacted by it that he responded and also decided to get baptised. Despite wanting nothing to do with church, Andy’s wife Karen went along to his baptism to support him. As she listened to the stories of how Jesus had turned people’s lives around, Karen knew she needed him in her life too. She’d faced really tough times and Jesus offered the hope she needed.
Karen invited her estranged son to her baptism and as she shared her story, felt it was time to say sorry to him for everything that had happened in the past. After seeing his mum come out of the water, her son grabbed the microphone and told everyone that, for the first time, he accepted her apology as he’d ‘seen a genuine change in her that can only be because of Jesus’, before he also decided to give his life to Jesus!
Every single member of the family is now plugged into the Community Grocery partner church and growing in their faith. This is what it’s all about: Jesus changing whole families, and it all started from an invitation to a kids’ club whilst they shopped in store.
