Genetik Sessions
If you want to learn some skills for getting on Britain’s Got Talent, or just have some fun getting active with your mates then check out GENETIK’s Sessions & Workshops here at our state-of-the-art facility in South Manchester.
In order to help young people explore and express their God-given potential we’ve created a range of opportunities for under-18s.
We’re amazingly privileged to know and work with some of the best performers and coaches in the UK. From world-class breakers to professional vocal coaches, our sessions tutors bring true excellence to teenagers in a friendly workshop environment.
Current sessions
Tuesdays
- 4:30-5:15pm Beginners Breakdance for age 7-10yr olds. £4 each
Wednesdays
- Bowdon Street Academy Sessions (Bowdon Parish Centre). Age 11-18+. £6 each
4:30-5:30pm DJing/Music Production and Streetdance
5:15-6:15pm Drum Academy and Electric Guitar
- Sessions at The Genetik Academy (Sharston) for age 7-11yr olds. £5 each
7:45-8:45pm Sessions in Breakdance, Streetdance, Drum Academy and Pop Vocals
Thursdays
- 4:30-5:15pm Pop Vocals Age 7-10yr olds. £4 each
- 5:15-6pm Streetdance Age 7-10yr olds. £4 each OR £6 for both.

Meet the Tutors
Tim Owen – Head of Creative Development and Breakdance tutorTim joined The Message Trust in 1997 and was one of the longest serving members of The Tribe. Since the Tribe took their final bow Tim has been involved with the vision for GENETIK. As The Message’s Head of Creative Ministries he has helped to create the various elements of the new course. As The Message’s Head of Creative Development he works regularly with the likes of LZ7, Twelve24, Malokai and our GENETIK Gap Year students pushing them to improve and develop as artists and communicators.
Christina Otoo-Anakwa – Streetdance/Vocals
Christina has been singing and dancing in Hip-Hip/Pop band Twelve24 for over three years now. She has performed in the USA and Norway as well as her regular work here in local Manchester high schools.
Ryan Griggs – Rap/Music production
Ryan moved from the USA to Manchester over three years ago to join the GENETIK residential training course here at The Message. He then joined Hip- Hop/Pop Band Twelve24 as a rapper and has performed in Norway and USA as well as here in local Manchester high schools.
Josh Green – Rap/Music Production
Josh joined the GENETIK residential course here at The Message in 2007 and went on to join Hip-Hop/Pop group Twelve24 as a rapper. He has performed in the USA and Norway as well as local Manchester high schools on a regular basis.
Dave Williams – Drum Academy
Dave plays drums for rock/punk band Malokai which takes him into local high schools with the band as well as playing gigs on the local Manchester scene.
