We’re just a couple of days into the North East Scattering mission week and already the young people are stepping out, sharing their faith and the hope of Jesus, and they’re seeing people respond!
Yesterday, some young people in Sunderland got chatting with a group of three girls about Jesus. One of the girls, Esme*, pulled Bella* aside saying that she was on the fence about faith but was curious about finding out more. Bella took the opportunity to be brave and share the gospel with Esme and afterwards, even asked her if she’d like to follow Jesus and give her life to him. Esme said ‘yes’ and they prayed together!
Amazingly, just after they prayed, Esme got a text from her stepdad, who wasn’t a Christian, saying, ‘Jesus loves you’. She couldn’t believe it and said it showed her that Jesus was real and cares so much about her. Esme and Bella prayed again that Esme would feel God’s presence close to her and afterwards, Esme said that she felt like God had given her a hug.
It’s been incredible hearing how the young people are stepping out and how God’s using them. Beth* started yesterday’s mission day having never prayed for someone before, and feeling really nervous about chatting to people and sharing her faith. After praying that God would use her, she bravely stepped out of her comfort zone and even got to share the gospel with those she met. At the end of the day, she was so excited about the seeds of faith she’d planted.
And that’s not all! Another group of lads felt God nudging them to speak to some men they met whilst prayer walking. As they got chatting, they shared the gospel and one of the men decided there and then to give his life to Jesus!
