Our prisons teams have been busy sharing the love of Jesus with those they’re working with. Read what’s been happening.
Join the chorus
In Wales, our prisons teams are running choirs as a way to build community with those they’re working with, and create more opportunities to share about the love of Jesus.
Freddie* has been coming along despite struggling with his speech. After coming to the choir for a few weeks, his speech has improved so much that his family have noticed the big change.
As the team got to know Freddie, they were able to chat more about faith and, as the weeks went on, Freddie started coming along to the Christianity Course to hear more about Jesus. He’s now finished the course and comes along to the weekly Bible Study as well as the choir and Sunday church services. Do join us in praying that Freddie would continue growing in faith.
Growing in confidence
‘I’m enjoying the Faith and Self-Esteem course. I’ve been getting on with everyone, and building trust and respect in the group has helped me build my confidence a lot. I can open up now and I don’t feel judged.’
This is what one woman who’s going along to the course run by our prisons worker, Kez, shared. Each week, Kez creates a space where the women she works with can share what they’re going through in a safe environment and hear more about Jesus. Pray that the women coming to the sessions would powerfully encounter the love of Jesus.
‘I want to follow Jesus’
Prisons worker, Owain, has been running a the4points course with a group of lads in prison which unpacks the core message of the gospel. After one session, Luke* told Owain he wouldn’t able to make the session the following week but he’d decided that he wanted to give his life to Jesus!
Owain and another inmate who became a Christian six months ago were able to pray with Luke as he accepted God into his life. Owain said, ‘It was such a special moment to be part of as Luke responded to the gospel. Please pray he continues to grow in faith and pray for the other lads who are coming along to course too.’
‘Jesus will help me’
One of our prisons workers, Jo, is running a Faith and Recovery course in prison. One of the guys going along shared, ‘The best part of the course was reflecting on all areas of addiction and realising that my faith in Jesus will help me overcome my addiction’. How amazing!
