Corporate Volunteer Days: Make a Real Difference

Looking for a meaningful way to engage your team? Our corporate volunteer days are a fantastic opportunity to strengthen bonds, give back to the community, and make a lasting impact.

Why Volunteer With Us

Bridging the gap between food banks and supermarkets, our network of Community Groceries is helping to keep families fed by giving people who would otherwise go hungry access to the affordable food they desperately need. Helping in one of our Community Groceries across the UK, your staff will:

  • give back to the local community
  • make a real difference in people’s lives, supporting families in need
  • strengthen team relationships
  • develop new skills and connections

Feedback

“Today, I had the privilege of spending the day with the Manchester Airport Business Continuity & Resilience Team at The Message Trust HQ in Sharston, supporting their incredible Community Grocery initiative. I was genuinely blown away by the outstanding work the Message teams are doing, not just across the UK but also around the world. From helping families access affordable food through the Community Grocery to providing ex-offenders with employment and purpose, their impact over the last 30 years is nothing short of inspiring. I’m surprised I hadn’t come across their work before, but now that I have, I can’t recommend them enough! Their HQ is a hub of positivity – with a fantastic café to keep you fuelled and a top-notch events space and meeting rooms for hire. If you’re local, I encourage you to stop by – whether it’s for a coffee, to learn more about what they do, or to get involved as a volunteer. It’s certainly put a smile on my face this week.” – Rosie Swift, Manchester Airport

“What a wonderful day today volunteering at The Message Trust Wythenshawe with the Realise team. We got to be a part of supporting the community and working with their inspiring team at the community grocery and café. The people are so friendly, and the food is delicious! We look forward to working together in the future.” – Kerry Peppard, AEB Delivery Manager, Realise

“Each year, Ashfield MedComms gives us the opportunity to volunteer in our local communities as part of #MakeItMatterDay. For the 4th year in a row, we headed straight to Community Grocery and The Message Trust! A great day was had by all and so rewarding. Looking forward to next year already!” – Sarah Topping, Senior Account Director, Ashfield MedComms

FAQs

What is Community Grocery?

Community Grocery provides affordable groceries for families in need, bridging the gap between food banks and supermarkets. We also offer support programs like budgeting, cooking classes, and mental health groups.

How can my company get involved?

Companies can participate through corporate volunteer days, fundraising, and donations. Your team’s involvement directly supports our mission to keep local families fed and provide a positive impact on the community.

What will volunteers do on a typical volunteer day?

Volunteers start with an orientation and tour, followed by hands-on tasks like sorting groceries, stocking shelves, assisting customers, and supporting any events or community activities happening that day.

Do volunteers need any specific skills or training?

No special skills are required. Our team will guide you through any tasks, and we ensure the experience is accessible and enjoyable for everyone.

Can my company run fundraising events independently?

Absolutely! We encourage companies to run fundraising events at their workplace or in our facility. Just let us know, and we’re happy to provide guidance and support.

What is the impact of my company’s support?

Your involvement helps us maintain stocked shelves, launch new grocery locations, and fund our support programs. Each volunteer hour and donation goes directly towards making food more accessible for families in need.

A typical volunteer day runs from 9 am to 4:30 pm, but we can adjust the schedule to suit your team’s availability.
