Message Germany have just had an incredible week of schools mission! As they headed into a couple of SEN schools with their lessons of hope, the team shared how they could feel the atmosphere changing when they shared their music and about Jesus’ love with the students.
In school they met Mathilda*, a teacher who’s been working with the young people for a while. She shared that many pupils struggled with depression and anxiety, but during the lesson she could see a change in them. ‘They have real joy! I’ve never seen these young people so full of joy and dancing,’ she said.
Hub leader Sven got chatting to one of the young lads who was enjoying the music. He told Sven that he believed in God but had no connection to church. Sven was able to connect him with the only Christian teacher in that school and not only is the lad now planning to go to church, he hopes to get baptised there soon too!
At the end of the week, the team hosted an evangelistic gig, that 300 young people came along to, excited and open to hearing the gospel. As the team shared from stage how loved and valued each young person is by God, one girl started crying. Team member Lizzy got to chat with her afterwards, pray with her and give her a Bible.
Another team member Haviva got talking to two of the guys who were standing at the side of the stage. They told her how they were the most hated people in the city because they are criminals and fight people with knives. Haviva got to share her testimony and how in the past she wanted to be the ‘cool’ person, but then Jesus turned her life around. The conversation shifted and the guys were honest about their lives and what they’d faced. They said, ‘We need help’. Haviva got to share the gospel with them, and then pray with them too that Jesus would come into their lives and help transform them.
And that’s not all! Message Germany also got to be part of Jam Festival, a Christian festival in North Germany, where they shared music and hosted a live version of their Und Hopp podcast to encourage and inspire the young people in their faith. One of the organisers told the team afterwards, ‘you bring something different to our nation’. How amazing!
