Our lessons and the curriculum for excellence
Through our lessons we bring hope and self-worth to young people and encourage them to develop positive relationships that promote respect for both themselves and others.
At the same time we explore the impact that difference social influences have on self-esteem & lifestyle choices, as well as equipping and empowering young people to make well informed, positive choices.
We do all this through sessions that facilitate open discussion & encourage self-reflection. They help create a safe space for young people to access appropriate support and give them practical tools they can apply to their life circumstances.
Curriculum for excellence
We understand that the school environment is continually assessed and in light of this, all our lesson and assemblies support delivery of many of the HWB and RME Experiences and Outcomes within Curriculum for Excellence and provide evidence towards the HGIOS indicators.
All our content aims to be effective in developing young people to be confident individuals, responsible citizens, effective contributors and successful learners. Specific Experiences and Outcomes for lessons are available upon request, along with the areas that can evidence
the HGIOS indicators.
PSE team
Focused on benchmarks within HWB and RME, our PSE team encourage learners to develop their own self-esteem and respect for others, whilst helping them to understand and develop their physical, mental and spiritual wellbeing and social skills. Our lessons cover a wide range of experiences and outcomes, within the following benchmarks:
BGE and Senior Phase:
- Health and Wellbeing (Personal and Social Education): Mental and emotional wellbeing, social wellbeing, relationships, sexual health and parenthood)
- Religious and Moral Education: Beliefs, values and issues, practices and traditions
