On Wednesday 9 September we want to see every school across the UK prayed for as Christians, churches and organisations unite for the National Day of Prayer for schools.
Praying for our schools, children, young people, teachers and school staff has never been more important than it is today.
95% of young people aren’t regularly engaged in their local church, yet 99% of them are in mainstream education. What an opportunity schools give us to reach each of them with the good news of Jesus and as we head into the new academic year we want to see our schools impacted by the gospel.
This won’t happen without prayer, so we’re calling Christians, churches, teachers, organisations and young people to come together and pray for the schools of our towns, cities and villages on Wednesday 9 September.
Get involved
We want as many people as possible to be part of the National Day of Prayer for schools and there’s lots of ways you can, your church, your community and your school can be part of it.
Here’s how:
1. GATHER – online or in person
In person: On Wednesday 9 September why not arrange a prayer gathering where people in your community can come together and pray for your local primary schools, secondary schools and sixth forms? Or can you get your youth group for a special time of prayer for their schools?
Online: On 9 September there will be three 1-hour Prayer Zooms happening online at 7am, 12pm and 7pm that anyone to join in with. Click here to register.
2. PRAY THROUGH THE SCHOOL DAY
We have prayer resources available that will help you pray through the school day on Wednesday 9 September.
Every hour, from 8am – 4pm, The Message, 24-7 Prayer GB and the National Day of Prayer for school partners will also be sharing a ‘prayer for schools’ on Facebook and Instagram. So please do share these and help us flood social media with prayers for schools.
3. PRAYER WALKS
Why not organise a prayer walk in your community near the local schools so that you can pray for them, or if you are at school or work in a school why not arrange to meet with other Christians to prayer walk your school?
There’s an excellent resource from 24-7 Prayer to help you prayer walk. You can download it here.
Please do share your pictures and stories of praying for schools across the country by tagging @messagetrust @24-7PrayerGB and or use the hashtag ‘prayforschools’
