Sharing Jesus’ Love

God has been on the move across the Community Groceries throughout February. Our teams have been busy signing up members, running courses, and grabbing every opportunity to share the love of Jesus. Here are a few of the amazing stories from this month.

For Pancake Day, Netherton Community Grocery had kids’ craft activities and gave pancakes to all their members. Then on Valentine’s Day, the team ran a giveaway, where they were able to bless members with teapots, jigsaws and after-shave, as well as a hamper of goodies. It was a great opportunity to connect with the local community and show Jesus’ love. And the lady who got the hamper said that she was feeling really low, but getting the hamper made a huge difference to her day and really cheered her up.

Our team in Wigan were also recently able to show the love of Jesus to a family who had left their home country and found themselves in the Community Grocery. When they were being signed up, the team were able to give them a free membership and toys for the kids. They also pointed them towards the local church. That Sunday, the family came along and loved it! They’re now really engaged in the church and the Community Grocery.

And it’s not just our Community Groceries teams who’re passionate about blessing their neighbours. In Liverpool, the Community Grocery team have been getting to know Daniel* who would often walk outside the grocery store. He wasn’t a member but would regularly come in to donate money or Pay-It-Forward shops for other members, despite not having a lot himself. For the last nine months, whenever Daniel came into the shop, the team would invite him to church. Each time, he’d say no but recently, he came along. There he heard the gospel and responded and is now getting plugged into the church community.

Over in Burnley, the team was signing up a new member, Oscar*. The team paid for his membership and his first shop, and he felt overwhelmed by the love and generosity he was experiencing. As the team were talking to Oscar, another member came up to them in tears. She had seen Oscar being signed up and wanted to pay for all his ‘Little Extras’ saying, ‘The grocery supported me when I was struggling, and I want to do the same for someone else’. How amazing is that!

Please continue to pray for the 20 Community Grocery teams across the country and for the people they meet. Pray that as the grocery members build relationships with the team and the local church, they’ll receive the love of Jesus for themselves.
