Across the country, God is changing lives as Community Grocery members shop in store. Here’s a snapshot of what’s been happening.
‘My life has changed’
God has been doing amazing things in Lydia’s* life! Shopping at South Bank Community Grocery (Middlesbrough) has not only helped her feed her five children, but it’s been where she’s found faith. After hearing a testimony from the manager and coming along to a church service, Lydia accepted Jesus into her life and got baptised at Easter. She now volunteers at the grocery and is going from strength to strength in her faith.
‘God is with me’
The team in Ragworth Community Grocery have been getting to know Josie*. After not seeing Josie for a while, team member Jennie had a catch up with her to see how she was getting on. Josie shared that things had been really difficult at home and she was feeling overwhelmed.
After listening, Jennie asked if Josie would like her to pray for her and she immediately said ‘yes’! As they prayed together, asking God to bring peace, wisdom and breakthrough, Josie looked like a weight had been taken off her shoulders. ‘I feel more uplifted. Even now we’ve stopped praying, I can still feel a presence around me like. God is really with me. I wasn’t even planning to come into the store today but I felt a strong urge that I should come.’
The team were able to share more about how much God loves Josie and invited her along to church. Please be praying that she comes along and has her life changed by Jesus.
‘Reading the Bible is helping me feel better’
From the first day the team at Crewe Community Grocery met Robert*, he shared how much shopping at the grocery was helping him make ends meet each month. As the team got to know him in the ‘Coffee and Chat’ spaces, Robert shared more about his journey being sober from alcohol and how he’s recently started reading his Bible and has noticed the difference in how he feels in himself since he started. Last Sunday, Robert came along to church for the first time and is really enjoying learning more about faith. He’s also just signed up to volunteer in store so do be praying for him on his journey.
Sharing Jesus with others
Passionate about building community and giving back to her neighbours, Debbie volunteers at our Community Grocery in Middlesbrough and helps supports other teams too. Debbie first started volunteering to grow in confidence and get to know people but it’s had a huge impact on all areas of her life and strengthened her faith.
‘I really enjoy praying with people and it’s amazing seeing them come back into the store and sharing with us how God is answering prayers. God is definitely moving through our Community Groceries.’
