A place of hope and happiness - The Message

God has been doing an amazing work through our Community Groceries around the UK.

North Finchley

A few months ago, Claire at North Finchley Community Grocery spotted Rana* standing outside looking like she wanted to come into the church. When Claire went to chat with her, Rana asked if she could come in and pray. Rana told Claire that she was new to the country and that she and her husband were struggling with their finances because her husband couldn’t find work. She wasn’t a Christian but was curious about faith.

Claire was able to share about the support the Community Grocery could give her, prayed with Rana and invited her along to church. Claire also linked her up with the Iranian Bible study leader and later on heard that not only did Rana come to the session but that she ended up chatting with other women who were Christians in the group. They shared their testimonies and about what it means to have a faith in Jesus with Rana and she decided to become a Christian! Rana’s signed up to Alpha so please do keep praying for her as she discovers more about the hope, peace and provision that Jesus offers.

Harpurhey

On Easter Sunday, Harpurhey Community Grocery member, Amy* got baptised!

Amy was one of the grocery’s first members and, since then, she’s continued to get involved by volunteering in the store. Even though she’s always believed in God, she wasn’t active in pursuing her faith, but this changed as she immersed herself in the culture of the grocery. Not long after joining, she started coming to church. When she encountered the Holy Spirit during one service, Amy decided to recommit her life to Jesus and get baptised!

Lincoln

When Rebecca* walked into Lincoln Community Grocery, she was feeling nervous. She shared with the team that she was going through a divorce and hadn’t been eating well. Despite things being financially difficult for her, she felt ashamed to shop in store because she didn’t want to take food away from others who might need it more. The team were able to put her at ease and shared how she could get additional wrap-around support and invited her to the courses running in store. Rebecca left feeling happier and more hopeful. Please pray that, when Rebecca next comes in store, the team would be able to share more about Jesus with her and invite her along to church.
