In the run up to Easter, our teams across the UK and beyond have been grabbing every opportunity to share the good news of Jesus.
‘God heard my prayer’
Last weekend, over 600 people from Wythenshawe, Manchester, came along to the annual Easter Eggstravaganza! After a week of mission handing out hundreds of free Bibles in the community, the Eggstravaganza evangelistic event was all about sharing the real meaning of Easter through music, games, testimonies and the gospel. As the gospel was shared, 96 responded!
The next day at church, one of our team, Claire, went to pick up a lady who’d been invited along by her friend but who couldn’t find the building. As Claire chatted with her, the lady said, ‘This week, I prayed for a Bible and the maddest thing happened. On Thursday, someone knocked on my door and gave me a Bible. It was you! God heard my prayer!’ In church, she heard more about Jesus and, during the response time, gave her life to Jesus. She’s signed up to go to home group and would love to get baptised soon too.
Jesus’ hands and feet
Eden Downtown Eastside in Vancouver (Canada) have been busy with mission in the run up to Easter. At the start of March, they were joined by two Christian groups from The University of British Columbia as they prayed for people, shared the gospel and gave out Bibles and free food.
Then a couple of weeks later, the Eden team got their youth together to encourage and equip them to share their faith before putting this into practice, heading to the streets and offering prayer to those they met, as well as giving out food to those experiencing homelessness.
Jesus is the lamb
Prisons worker Jo recently chatted to a man who shared a dream that he had where he was in a really dark place full of fear and death but the door to the place opened and he saw a lamb. He said he’d felt like the lamb had significance but wasn’t sure what, so he asked Jo about it. She was able to share about the parable of the lost sheep and how Jesus is the lamb who died for our sins.
The man was really impacted and when he came to Alpha, he decided to give his life to Jesus! Do pray for our prisons teams as they run Easter services this weekend. Pray many would come to know Jesus and have their lives transformed by him.
This Holy Week, we’re inviting you to join us as we pray through an immersive daily resource from Proximity. From Palm Sunday to Easter Sunday, these devotionals are designed to help you draw closer to Jesus in the run up to Easter. We pray that they encourage you in your personal quiet time with God and also with your churches and community groups.
