We love seeing how God is using the work of Advance – our small mentoring groups that encourage and equip men and women to share the gospel in everyday conversations – to see lives transformed by the power of the gospel message.
We caught up with two Advance Group leaders – Dani in Manchester, UK, and Chaffra in Cote D’Ivoire to find out how God’s been using them.
Dani:
‘I work in the support and administration team for a charity and recently I was processing some of our donations and on one giving form, a lady wrote on it ‘please pray for me’.
‘In my Advance Group that week, we’d been discussing the power of prayer in our evangelism, so I decided to write back to the donor telling her I was praying for her.
‘She got back in touch with me a few days later and said that she’d been having liver troubles, however recently the pain had disappeared, and she was awaiting doctor results! I replied saying how I’d felt really prompted to pray for her and shared a Bible verse with her reassuring her that God truly loved her. When I next heard back from her, she said not only had the medical results confirmed that her liver was healed, but that her own daughter’s faith had been strengthened as well through the way God healed her. How amazing!’
Chaffra:
‘I was recently in N’Djamena, Chad, to gather church leaders from across the region, and use the Advance Group Mentoring Guide to encourage and sharpen them in their evangelism. Whilst there, one of the key themes we explored together was the importance of unity, and that how as a church, if we’re to see the gospel spread across Chad, we need to be united in both word and action.
‘It was a powerful time together and not only could we encourage the church in sharing the gospel but during the training event, we actually saw 20 people give their lives to Jesus!’
