Every day God is moving in prisons. As prisoners hear the good news of Jesus, they are responding to it and lives are being transformed, and more than ever we’re hearing how these new believers are then going on to share their faith with those round them.
Paul is just one of these people. We first met him when he came along to a Bible study we were running in the prison he was in. Here he learned how much Jesus loved him and accepted him into his life. After being released, he desperately wanted to share his new faith with others so started meeting up with two friends telling them about Jesus and they’ve recently responded to the gospel and accepted Jesus into their lives!
And our work inside the prison gates is also growing. Prisons worker Owain has just launched a brand-new Bible study and prayer group in a local prison after his first group doubled in size due to the fact that the lads coming along kept bringing their friends with them!
One of the guys in the new group is Walter. Owain first met Walter last year and even though they’d often have long conversations about Jesus and faith, Walter hadn’t responded to the gospel. But Owain kept praying that God would work in Walter’s life and when they were chatting recently he opened up and said ‘after you left last week, I felt Jesus speaking to me saying that the way I had been living for myself was meaningless and that following him was how I could experience more peace, meaning and joy in life.’
That day, Walter accepted Jesus into his life and is still coming along to the Bible studies each week.
