‘It’s been life-changing’

God is continuing to transform lives through the Community Groceries. Here are some of the latest stories.

Ragworth

It’s been an amazing few months as many of our Community Grocery members and volunteers have been getting baptised across the UK. One of these is Jean*. Knowing that our Community Grocery teams are Christians, Jean got chatting with Jenny, one of the team in Ragworth, saying, ‘My grandson would love to find out more about becoming a Christian but I don’t know how to support him.’ Jenny was able to give Jean a the4points card which helps to explain the gospel in a clear way – and this turned out to have a big impact for Jean and her family.

The next day, Jean was back in the grocery and, after more conversations with Jenny and the team and hearing more about faith, Jean said she wanted to give her life to Jesus! Jean recently got baptised and is loving coming along to Bible studies and growing in her faith, sharing all she’s learning about with her grandchildren too!

South Bank

One of the grocery’s new volunteers Ruth* recently gave her life to Jesus and grocery member Emily* started decided to go along to a church service and there and then wanted to become a Christian! Emily joined an Alpha course to learn more about faith and then got baptised saying how much her life has changed since finding Jesus – including being sober for over 100 days!

Netherton

In Netherton Community Grocery, Lydia* has been coming to shop for four years and always shares how life-changing the store has been for her and her family. Every now and then, Lydia would accept prayer from the team when she was ill or needing breakthrough and one week she decided to go to a the baptism of one of the grocery team – and she loved it!

Off the back of the service, her eldest daughter has started going to youth at the church, and even went on a youth camp away, and Lydia has started going to church and has also signed up to volunteer at the grocery.

Burslem

Before Christmas, our groceries gave out hundreds of free hampers to struggling families. A couple of weeks ago, our team in Burslem got this message from a thankful family, ‘Thank you for the hamper which helped us to enjoy festive treats and time together without worrying about finances. The grocery is such a hub of kindness, I enjoy visiting and chatting to the team and everyone is always happy to help.’ How amazing!
