We caught up with Owain, one of our Prison Outreach Workers in Wales, to hear what’s been happening as people in prison hear the good news of Jesus.
‘One lad I’ve been getting to know is Andy. He came along to a the4points session a couple of weeks ago, where we unpacked the gospel and gave the young people the opportunity to ask any questions they had. During the session, we also sang a couple of worship songs and, to my surprise, Andy started singing along and clapping – all with a big smile on his face. Afterwards, I got chatting to Andy to see how he found the session and straight away he said, ‘How can I become a Christian?’ It was amazing! So there and then, we prayed together and Andy welcomed God into his life. He was so happy!
‘Another lad who recently gave his life to Jesus is Reece. He came along to a Christianity Explored session in the Young Offender Institution where we looked at the topic of sin. We looked at how Jesus, in love, took all our sin upon himself when he went to the cross. Reece was really impacted by this. He was amazed that he could experience love, hope and forgiveness from God because of what Jesus had done for him. Immediately, he decided to follow Jesus and we prayed together. I can’t wait to journey alongside him and Andy as they explore more about what it means to be a Christian.
‘These are just two of the stories of what God’s doing, so do keep praying for me and the rest of the team as we share the gospel with men, women and young people in prison.’
