Streets, supermarkets and salvations

Vinicius, Raphael and TJ, three of our Message School of Evangelism (MSE) students, recently took to the streets to share the hope of Jesus with those they met. As they walked past a bus stop, Vinicius felt God nudge him to chat to Jack who was waiting there.

As the team got chatting with Jack, they asked if there was anything they could pray for. Jack shared that he was struggling with depression, so Vinicius prayed for peace and breakthrough and told Jack how loved he is by God. TJ then got to share the gospel with Jack, inviting him to respond. Jack was excited to accept Jesus into his life there and then and was able to get linked into the local church before his bus came!

On another day, TJ, Heritier and Yael were walking through the town centre and felt like they should go and chat to a couple they saw. As they got talking, the man mentioned that he wasn’t religious, and TJ grabbed the opportunity to share how faith in Jesus is about relationship and love and not rules and regulations. As the students shared the gospel with the couple, the woman was really interested and asked, ‘When can I follow Jesus?’ ‘Right now!’, TJ answered, saying that you don’t need to do anything except believe that Jesus loves you, died for you to take away your sins and rose again. Hearing this, the woman accepted Jesus into her life there in the street and they all got to pray together.

Knowing that they can share Jesus in every opportunity, another group of students headed into a local supermarket. Trying to think of fun ways to break the ice with people and open conversations about faith, one of the students challenged Raul to chat to a member of staff in the shop, ask where the water was in the store, and then share how Jesus is our living water. As Raul did this, the staff member, Jackie, found this opening conversation funny and ended up sharing all about her life and how her family were Christians but she wasn’t. Raul got to share more about how loved Jackie was by Jesus and asked if she wanted to have a new experience with Jesus for herself. Jackie said ‘yes’, and they all got to pray together in the middle of the aisle for Jackie to encounter God that day. The students invited Jackie along to church and she was excited to come along on Sunday so please do pray that she would come, hear more about God and continue growing in faith as she learns more.

It’s amazing seeing the MSE students put what they’re learning on the course into practice, stepping out in faith and sharing the love of Jesus. Pray that God would continue using them and helping them grow in boldness and in their own personal faith.
