The work of our Message In Prisons team, doesn’t just happen inside the prisons, but we keep working with those we’ve met and who’ve come to faith after they’re released too.
Last week, prisons worker Owain caught up with Rhys who’d just been released from prison and as they got chatting, Rhys was excited to share that he’d been listening to the Bible being read on his phone. After praying together and chatting more about Jesus, Owain suggested Rhys check out the Lectio 365 app to help him as he continues pressing into God in prayer. As they chatted, Rhys shared that he was planning to meet up with a local church leader to find out how he could get stuck into church and grow even more in his faith.
Another lad Owain met up with was Rob, who he’d first met in the prison chapel . Whilst chatting and catching up, Rob shared how it had been important to him to get stuck in with the local church and he’d made this a priority when he was released. As they talked, Rob explained that he’d been struggling to find a job so Owain prayed Rob would find the perfect job where he could grow and develop his skills. Just a few days later, Rob called him saying ‘I’ve found a job! I’m going to be a full-time HGV driver at the end of my training, and I can really see how God is working in my life!’
Owain said, ‘It’s amazing to see how God is moving in the lives of these lads. Just the other day, one guy who we met at a carol service and has been coming along to the Bible study ever since rang his mum to tell her that he wants to get baptised when he’s released! Do keep praying for these lads as they learn more about Jesus and get plugged into churches.’
