150 young people recently gathered together in Lichfield for an Amplify residential to press into God’s voice, grow in their faith, get trained in their evangelism and to put what they’ve learnt into practice on mission.
Amplify Academy is all about encouraging and equipping young people in their evangelism. Over six months, young people get to go on two residentials, take part in monthly small group meetings, head out on mission themselves and get evangelism masterclasses from those sharing their faith in the worlds of music, sport, performing arts, social media, social action and many more.
It’s all done in partnership with The Message Trust, Rural Missions, Scripture Union, Festive, Urban Saints, Luminosity, Nxt Move Europe, and Alpha – and we’re seeing many young people be transformed through the programme, stepping out to share their faith with their friends, family, teachers, school mates and even strangers!
The message we hear again and again is how Amplify is helping young people be more courageous sharing Jesus with those around them, and they’re seeing God use them in amazing ways. Neyla* shared, ‘Amplify has given me more boldness and confidence and opportunities to go on mission. And I’ve been putting what I’ve learnt into practice. Our CU started off in the smallest room in the college, but we have now been moved to the lecture theatre because the room was too full! We get 30-40 people coming along every week and have encouraged others to start an Alpha at college too. My friends and I have also started a youth church and Alpha to journey with people and we get 20 come every week on a Sunday evening!’
