Stepping up mission - The Message
Tameside Respect ME tour
01 Apr 2025

Our creative mission teams have been taking mission up a level this spring, heading right across the country with powerful lessons with a Christian message.

Heading into schools across Tameside, our Respect ME team took lessons to 4,950 students. Covering topics from identity, healthy relationships, bullying and being safe online, all from a Christian perspective, our teams were able to share the hope and light of Jesus with the young people and support them in making positive choices for their lives.

During the tour, each young person the team met was also invited to the end-of-week evangelistic gig where they could hear more music from our bands as well as the gospel message. 200 young people came along and, when they heard the gospel and how loved they are by Jesus, 50 responded!

But it didn’t stop there. Our teams headed straight from Tameside to Hackney in London to take the No More Knives tour to 2,000 students. Alongside sharing lessons encouraging and equipping young people to say ‘no’ to knives and knife crime, the Message hub in London also partnered with local churches to do youth outreach after school with the young people. The team set up some football, FIFA, games and drink and throughout the week, they built great relationships with the young people and were able to invite many to the evangelistic gig.

A group of lads that James, from band OTC, and youth worker, Toyin, got to know all came to the gig and when the gospel was shared, two of them gave their lives to Jesus! They both went to get a free Bible from the team and they can’t wait to come along to the new youth group being set up in the local church off the back of the gig! 41 other young people also gave their lives to Jesus that night and are getting connected with the church – how amazing!
