Last week, 26 young people came along to take part in fun creative workshops at our annual Genetik Summer School. Whilst they enjoyed music production and dance classes, it was great to get to know young people from the local area, help them grow in their creative skills and share the love of Jesus with them.
During the week, OTC band member Tomi was running a Little Rockers dance class for the smaller kids. For the first few sessions, she could see that a lot of them were struggling with their self-esteem, so as she got to know them, Tomi encouraged them with what the Bible says about how each of us are ‘fearfully and wonderfully made’ (Psalm 139:14) and loved by God. Many of the young people were really interested in faith and asked so many questions about Jesus, and the group had great conversations throughout the week. During the last session, the team got to boldly share the gospel, and nine young people put their hands up to respond and accept Jesus into their lives!
It was great to see how the love of Jesus had given the young people more confidence in themselves and to see young people, who were initially so nervous, boldly dancing on stage at the creative showcase in front of their parents.
One parent got in touch with us over the weekend to say, ‘My son was buzzing after the showcase from all the positive and encouragement. I can see him walking a bit taller now!’ How brilliant.
Please be praying for those who gave their lives to Jesus as they get plugged into the church youth group and come along to our weekly Genetik Sessions to keep growing in their skills and their love for Jesus.
