Our Message School of Evangelism (MSE) students are halfway through four weeks of back-to-back mission across the nation and beyond. Here’s a snapshot of what they’ve been up to so far.
Whilst in Birmingham, a team felt God encouraging them to go into the library and chat to a woman who worked there. As the team introduced themselves and got chatting to her, Ester felt like she should tell the lady that God wanted to give her peace. As they continued talking, the woman said that she’d just found out that she was pregnant again but was very nervous because she had some complications in a previous pregnancy and was scared the same thing would happen. Students Ester and Moises prayed for her and after they finished, the lady said she wanted to give her life to Jesus. So there in the library, they all prayed again as she responded to the gospel.
Further afield, some students have just come back from Kenya. They had an incredible time partnering with The Global Network of Evangelists getting involved in schools work, street evangelism, visiting prisons, and helping serve at an evangelistic festival in Nanyuki (central Kenya). Over the week, the teams shared the gospel with 36,150 people and saw 6,230 make first time decisions to accept Jesus into their lives!
During one of the days, the team were in a marketplace to talk to people about Jesus. After a while it became obvious they weren’t really welcome there. Undeterred, the students parked up a short distance away and started playing Christian music, and one man who was drinking came along. Initially he was hostile to the team but as MSE student, Ben, got chatting with him, he got to gently share the gospel. As the man listened, everything about him changed and he went from being loud and aggressive to apologising to the team and feeling peaceful. He shared about his life and how he turned to drinking to cope, and the team got to pray with him as he accepted Jesus into his life!
Another team have been out on mission with Message Germany. Here they were at a church service and got chatting with a lady who had been really impacted by what she’d heard. As they talked, she told the team that she was a teacher in a humanistic school that Message Germany had previously tried connecting with, but that had initially been closed off to engaging with the creative mission. This teacher, however, was so impacted by God that day that she really wanted to get the MSE students and Message Germany into the school.
And it happened! Whilst they were there, the students got to chat to some of the young people including Lina. She shared some things that had happened in her personal life that made her not want to go back to her youth group but that she wanted to get some support to go back. The MSE students got to connect Lina with Lizzie from Message Germany’s creative mission team who is now coming alongside her to support her and encourage her to get plugged into local church discipleship.
And the mission isn’t slowing down. MSE teams are out this week serving Eden teams in Sharston (Manchester), taking power-packed lessons into schools in Crewe and Leigh (Wigan), and supporting Message Wales in Cardiff.
