Can you imagine a school assembly full of young people where half of the group put their hands up to respond to the gospel?
Well, that’s exactly what happened when our creative mission team and bands recently headed into St Christopher’s school for their Faith and Spirituality week.
Alongside team members Dammy and Adam running back-to-back Respect ME lessons on bullying and self-esteem for the year 8s, all pupils in years 7 to 10 also got to be part of a new assembly from our team all about how Jesus is the ‘Ultimate Influencer’.
Through facts, stats and live music from NXT CHAPTR, the lesson looked at how Jesus has, and does, influence our world and culture, and the lives of Christians. As well as exploring who Jesus is, the team got to clearly unpack the4points using powerful Bible verses, as well as getting to share what Christians believe about Jesus dying on the cross for us and rising again.
After sharing the gospel in the assembly, our team were given permission by the school to ask the students if they wanted to respond to this invitation about what they’d heard, asking if they wanted to become Christians too and follow Jesus. And what happened next was incredible…
110 young people raised their hands to respond and accept Jesus into their lives! We’ve never seen this in a school before!
It’s amazing to see how God is moving, stirring the hearts of the younger generations and drawing them to him. Please keep praying for our schools teams as they continue stepping out, sharing the good news of young people.
