On Friday we saw over 100 young people respond to the gospel at our No More Knives gig in Tameside, Greater Manchester!
The gig was the culmination of an incredible week of schools mission where we saw over 4,000 students. Each one heard our teams share powerful lessons designed to empower and equip them to make positive decisions about knife crime, and as part of each lesson they were invited to the end-of-tour gig. And an amazing 294 young people came along! Here, the young people heard incredible tracks from OTC, NXT CHAPTR and Vonte Grace and the gospel was shared with boldness.
After hearing about the hope and peace Jesus offers, 108 responded and gave their lives to God. On top of this, 139 copies of Luke and Acts were given out and many young people eagerly went up to be prayed for by our different church partners and get connected into local church youth discipleship groups. Impacted by the huge response from their young people, a school even asked one of the partner churches to start a Christian Union in their school that will support the young people as they continue to find out more about Jesus!
As the Bibles were being handed out at the gig, one of the lads, ran up to the team and asked if he could have six. He said, ‘I really want to give a Bible to each of my parents and my siblings so I can start a Bible study with my family and we can read it together!’ How incredible!
One parent also got in touch with the team saying, ‘My year 10 boy loved the gig. It definitely made an impression on him. It’s a brilliant way of trying to get the message across to kids especially hearing the stories of some of the team.’
We’re excited to take the No More Knives tour to schools in Nottingham and Teesside this December and Tameside Council were desperate to have our teams back in schools in the new year that they have book a Respect ME tour for 15 schools across the area! Please be praying that God would continue moving and changing the lives of young people through these lessons and the evangelistic gigs where they can hear about the hope of Jesus.
