We’re truly a worldwide Message tribe and we’re seeing God do amazing things around the world. We caught up with some of our international teams to hear what’s been happening.
A World Cup win
Eden Santa Marta (Rio de Janeiro) have an Eden house where they run English lessons, have a library and lead Genetik Sessions in the favela. During the FIFA World Cup, the team invited the young people to watch the football and take part in their own football tournament. The team shared how amazing it was to have the house so full with young people from the community, creating a safe and welcoming space for them to hang out.
One day, one of the boys walked up to the team and said, ‘Please can you pray with me? I want to give my life to Jesus’. He’d just been hearing about God as he spent time in the Eden house and had decided to follow Jesus!
‘You have a purpose’
Message Germany recently ran a schools tour leading up to Exodus Christian festival, sharing how each young person has a purpose and inviting them to the festival and hear about the hope Jesus offers. And because we’re mates on a mission, bands SoulBox from Manchester (UK) and Lusitano from Rio de Janeiro (Brazil) joined Message Germany band NGHTNDAY for these school concerts to run and youth club gigs too. At the Exodus festival, 450 young people came along and heard the gospel and the team saw 170 respond! Hub leader Sven was able to pray with five young people who had never prayed before which was a special moment.
Hope for the future
The Message Germany team also ran a Hope Camp youth group week recently with 53 young people and children, giving them space to learn new skills and hear the gospel. Every morning, the group prayed together and then got to enjoy Genetik Sessions creative workshops in theatre, dance, music production and percussion.
Each afternoon, everyone got to hear a ‘Hope Story’ where someone from the team shared their testimony of what God has done in their lives. On the last day, team member Yael prayed with one girl who, whilst hearing the gospel shared, decided to respond. Praise God!
Heading to the nations
God really is doing more than we ever could have asked or imagined through The Message in Africa. In South Africa, the creative mission team have discipled 307 young women and girls through Bloom sessions, improving their self-esteem and discipling them!
In Ethiopia, prisons ministry has launched and the team are also starting Genetik Sessions creative workshops for young people living on a rubbish dump. And in Uganda, the team are opening a Restore House to help girls who had been sexually exploited.
